The Australian Trade Commission supported Global Steel 2011 - 6th international conference on steel and steel making raw materials, held between 16 to 18 January 2011 at New Delhi. Australian companies representing mineral & resources sector participated at Global Steel 2011.
A confluence of Indian Steel makers and global raw material producers, Global Steel 2011 is organised by Gujarat NRE and The Economic Times and supported by Ministry of Steel Government of India, Australian Trade Commission and The Government of New South Wales, Australia.

An exclusive session on Australia was organised at Global Steel 2011. As part of its expansion plans and in securing resources for the future, The Indian Steel industry is exploring alternate sources of supply of raw material. The Indian Steel industry is increasingly looking at sourcing from Australia. Global Steel 2011 presented an overview of the raw material demand - supply scenario in India; Future demand for iron ore and coking coal in India and the supply plan; the source of coking coal and the role of Australia as the major steel making raw material producer of the world. At Global Steel 2011, the Australian resources sector had the opportunity to showcase their offerings to the Indian steel industry.
