MtM exploring production facilities in India to meet growing demand for supply of automatic gear box shifters for exports of Scorpios - M&M’s SUV
Australian automotive company MtM has recently commenced supplies of automatic gear box shifters to Mahindra & Mahindra. MtM supplies automatic gear box shifters for installations in Mahindra & Mahindra’s SUV - Scorpio that are being planned for exports to USA. Mahindra & Mahindra are planning to export Scorpios to USA that features automatic transmission controlled by automatic gear box shifters manufactured by Australian automotive company – MtM.
MtM is a privately owned Australian company specialising in design and manufacture of complex automotive components. MtM’s product range includes automatic & manual gear shifters, door checks, door handles, park brakes and other components that includes storage boxes; hood latches; interior lights, fuel and boot release, grip assists and washer nozzles.
MtM has a track record of innovation in the use of plastics in auto shifters and other products that has resulted in greater design freedom and weight saving products for vehicle manufacturers.
MtM customers include General Motors, Ford Australia, Toyota Australia, General Motors (USA), Shanghai General Motors (China), Mahindra & Mahindra (India), Hella (Australia) and Autoliv (Australia).
Mahindra & Mahindra are planning to export the Scorpio SUV to USA, one of the most mature automotive markets in the world. USA is pre-dominantly an automatic transmissions’ market and MtM’s track record in successfully supplying automatic gear box shifters to Australian vehicles exported to USA and MtM’s understanding of the quality and technical requirements for the USA market met Mahindra & Mahindra’s criteria to seek the assistance of MtM in developing the automatic gear box shifters for Scorpio.
Production of the off tool parts was achieved in less than a year. As a customer focused organisation, MtM utilised Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process in design and development, monitored Mahindra & Mahindra’s requirements and met Mahindra & Mahindra’s timelines.
MtM’s export success was facilitated by the Australian Trade Commission, the Australian Government’s trade and investment promotion agency.

MtM expects to supply 10,000 automatic gear box shifters a year to Mahindra & Mahindra and MtM are exploring the options of locating the production of automatic gear box shifters in India. MtM are currently looking for potential partners in India to experience source of shifters in India.
