Australia Green Buildings expertise on offer for India

27 Australian firms participated in the green buildings trade delegation to India offering latest products & cutting edge solutions for Indian Green Buildings

 

An Australian green buildings trade delegation visited India between 9 to 12 September 2009 to participate at the Indian Green Buildings Congress 2009 at Hyderabad.

 

Organised by The Australian Trade Commission, Australian Government in partnership with Trade Queensland, State Government of Queensland and Victorian Government Department of Innovation Industry and Regional Development, 29 Australian firms participated in the Australian green buildings trade delegation, making it the largest ever Australian contingent in the building & construction sector visiting India.

 

Australia is at the forefront of the constantly evolving standards in the international building & construction industry. Australian firms have significant expertise in offering cutting-edge solutions, products, technologies and services in green buildings for the building & construction industry. A combination of domain skills, technology expertise and implementation experience in green buildings are some of the key competencies of Australian green building sector.

 

Australian institutions have been playing a significant role in the transition of the Australian building & construction industry towards sustainability by promoting green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations as well as the integration of green building initiatives into mainstream design, construction and operation of buildings.

 

Australian Green Building Expertise

 

Australia has wide ranging expertise in design, construction & management of green buildings that includes architectural & project management services; refurbishment of existing buildings; sustainable and green products & building materials; energy conservation and modelling systems & tools and building management systems.

 

Key product & services capabilities of the Australian green building industry includes, building biology; building information services; decking and flooring, draft proofing, energy efficient cooling and heating; energy efficient lighting; grey water systems; gutters and gutter guards; insulation; natural and low VOC paints; retrofitting; salvage yards; skylights; solar systems; swimming pools & accessories; termite control; toilets; ventilation; water-saving devices; water tanks & windows.

 

According to Aminur Rahman, Australian Consul General for South India and Trade Commissioner, “India is Australia s fastest growing export market. Within emerging sectors, climate change is a significant focus area for Australia, and our activities relating to green buildings in India fit well with our climate change initiatives".

With India’s green building movement picking up momentum, Australian companies can offer a range of products, technologies, expertise, services and project management capabilities for Indian companies for design, construction & management of green buildings”, Aminur Rahman said.

 

Association with the Indian Green Buildings Council

 

The Indian Green Buildings Council (IGBC) has been working very closely with Australian institutions for seeking Australian inputs in drafting the policy for setting the industry standards in India.

 

The Indian Green Buildings Council’s association with Australia has been growing with ongoing visits by IGBC professionals for advanced training and for identifying innovative technologies for commercial, residential, industrial and institutional buildings from Australia particularly in the areas of solid waste management systems; renewable energy solutions & services; energy efficient systems; green roof solutions; water efficient systems; capacity building for green building services; energy modelling; development of low cost green building materials and equipment.

 

The Indian Green Buildings Council (IGBC) is also working closely with The Australian Green Building Congress for the establishment of exclusive “Water Institute” as a Centre for Excellence.
